ABSTRACT
The article is devoted to the impacts of online learning in higher education during the distant learning. The aim of this research is to determine several online teaching platforms in Kazakhstan and to identify the general benefits and drawbacks of e-learning in the teaching process.
Keywords: E-learning platforms, online teaching, higher education.
INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, in the century of developed informational technologies, we may have an opportunity to get a higher and qualitative education. It is known, that during the pandemic time many schools and universities moved to the distant learning. Many mew reforms were accepted in different sphere of government to overcome this kind of difficult situation and various online platforms were created to give students a higher knowledge. In quarantine times, our President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev did not disregard the sphere of education. The President noted that a real online platform has not yet been created for distance education. Therefore, he pointed out that "it is urgently necessary to develop one online educational platform with all the functions necessary for a full-fledged educational process" [1]. After the Message of President, the majority of online educational platforms, such as Bilimland, OnlineMektep, Moodle, Platonus, Google Classroom, e-learning technologies were used for students to continue their education in distance learning as in traditional learning.
MAIN PART
One of the main objectives of education is the adequate, flexible and effective provision of knowledge in accordance with the specific needs of different categories

of learners. It is necessary that the various requests of students regarding the time, place and frequency of contacts with teachers be met, and the most modern and effective technologies be used. Many scientists define the distance learning with its benefits and drawbacks in the learning process in their works. According to Pokushalova L.V. "Distance learning makes it possible to implement the principles underlying distance education: the first is "education for all", the right of everyone to begin to study and get secondary or higher education without entrance tests; the second - learning with minimal contact with the teacher when the emphasis is made on independent work. The quality and structure of training courses as well as the quality of teaching in distance education, are often much better than in traditional education" [2].
While in general, internet-based learning is considered an alternative to traditional learning, during the pandemic time it became an essential element for maintaining the activity of schools and universities. This paradigm shift could generate changes in students' perception of this way of teaching, and it might be different from the one found in studies previous to the pandemic. Previous studies show that E-learning offers many benefits for students, because this type of learning involves student-center approaches and more flexible, also may improve interaction with students by providing asynchronous and synchronous tools such as e-mail, forums, chats, videoconferences. Furthermore, internet technologies facilitate the distribution of content at the same time to numerous users. Due to its flexibility, E-learning eliminates barriers of space and time, the user can have access to a wide range of information, it facilitates collaboration, allows students to learn in their own rhythm, it motivates them to interact with their peers, discuss and exchange points of view and ideas. Other studies mention as benefits the fact, online learning is more faster; it saves time and money because it does not involve traveling, and the uploaded content is consistent and can be easily updated.
However, when using E-learning platforms there are some elements that might be considered obstacles in students' process of learning, such as decreased motivation in students, delayed feedback or help due to the fact that teachers are not always available at the time, or feelings of isolation due to lack of physical presence of classmates. Nonetheless, these obstacles can be overcome with the help of teachers who should adapt their teaching strategies to the needs of students. In order to improve teaching strategy, it is necessary to get experience and knowledge about teaching in the online environment. Thus, we believe that these challenges and disadvantages could be more prominent while the educational process takes place exclusively online.

This might happen due to the lack of teachers' experience in using E-learning and due to the short time in which they had to adapt their teaching style to the new conditions. Therefore, both university members and students came across many challenges. According to researchers' works, there was mentioned the challenges of universities during the distant learning, like keeping an equilibrium between online courses, that could affect students health spending many hours in front of a screen, and non-digital activities, analyzing and focusing on student's emotional health -providing them with support throughout the process of learning, taking into account the fact that not all students have access to the internet, and managing and monitoring their access to devices in order to effectively collaborate with them. In addition, students had to face challenges and a study focusing on students' perspective on E-learning identified that among the main challenges that students encountered were accessibility, connectivity, lack of appropriate devices, social issues represented by the lack of communication and interaction with teachers and peers [3].
CONCLUSIONS
To sum up, technical issues are still the issues most difficult to solve, due to the capacity of the servers owned by universities. Surely, universities have made efforts in order to solve these problems and improve the way the E-learning platforms work. Still, students' technical problems remain poor internet connections, signal loss, lack of adequate digital devices, especially for students living in rural areas or students from families with low incomes. Online learning has more benefits, however as we mentioned above, it has several drawbacks too.
