INTRODUCTION.

The most essential language ability is listening, which is also an element of communication. We may share our thoughts with others by listening to them. Listening is the primary component in language learning and teaching, since learners do more listening than speaking in the classroom. It indicates that listening is crucial in everyday life. Listening is sometimes regarded as the hardest talent to master. This is because ELT teachers place a high value on students' speaking, reading, and writing abilities. They are aware that listening comprehension is difficult to master and, as a result, they tend to overlook it.

The student's comprehension has an impact on the learning technique. If teachers do not utilize an exact technique, students will become bored and disinterested in the learning process. When the listening class consistently presents the same type of audio, the pupils become bored. As a result, one of the techniques that teachers may use to teach listening is to utilize a song. Using a song will boost the learners' interest in participating in the listening lesson.

METHODS

One of the most important skills in any language is listening. It is the foundation of speaking and writing as a kind of input. Because the two output abilities are more challenging, if a student does not acquire appropriate listening input, he or she may suffer in writing and speaking. Listening is crucial because it allows pupils to create the foundation for speaking and writing. Students may learn to pronounce words correctly and learn a range of useful words, phrases, and sentences via listening. In real-life communication, listening to itself is different from daily listening. It means that the listening activities that are provided in the classroom will accommodate the real-life listening outside the classroom. In order to render students with the training of listening that will prepare them in outside classroom listening. The teacher should give them such creative activities. Then, students can translate real-life classroom listening activities to communicate in the real-life listening

situation. The listener must acquire and catch the speaker's primary concept, and strong listening and concentration are also essential in the listening process.

When someone listens to anything, he not only receives information, but also reacts to it by linking or contrasting the new information to previous or existing knowledge.

RESULTS

Using Songs can bring the positive atmosphere and relaxing mood which makes easier to gain the new material in the class. Orlova (2003) claims these are some of the strengths for working in class with songs:

a. Practicing the rhythm, stress and the intonation patterns of the English language.

b. Teaching vocabulary, especially in the vocabulary reinforcement stage.

c. Teaching grammar, teachers while investigating the use of the tenses especially favor songs.

d. Teaching speaking. For this purpose, songs and mainly their lyrics are employed as a stimulus for class discussions.

e. Teaching listening. Music can be helpful for comprehension.

f. Developing writing skills. It means a song can be used in a type of ways; for example, speculation as to what could happen to the characters in the future, writing a letter to the main character, etc.

Teaching songs are important resources to use while teaching a language. Aside from the positive effects, there are, of course, challenges with utilizing music in language teaching.Terhune (1997: 8) states there are the difficulties thing when using songs as a media of learning:

a. Pop songs are not scientific.

b. Each student has a different way of learning; some students may have difficulty in studying through music.

c. Inefficient sound systems in schools may cause problems while listening to

songs.

d. The types of music favored by students may not be matching with each other. e. Songs that are not grammatical or those involving complicated sentence structures may confuse students.

f. Some songs, there may be disgraceful parts that cannot be explained to students. g. Repetition of a limited number of words it makes the song to seem boring or ineffective.

Some teachers do not have adequate knowledge about music and teacher-training programs do not involve anything regarding how to utilize music in language teaching Griffe (1992) recommends using short and slow songs for students on the beginner level. Such songs can be used to do crossword puzzles, sketching, or picture-showing exercises. Long and fast songs that describe a story should be utilized with children who have a higher language ability. The music to be selected should have a clear sound and be clear; it should not have too many instruments played at a high level.

DISCUSSION

Pre-listening, listening, and post-listening activities are three types of activities that can be used in foreign language lessons. The teacher should consider what a student will do before to, during, and after listening. There are some suggestions for the stages of these activities and the kind of activities a teacher can utilize at each stage:

1.Pre-Listening. Before performing a song, the teachers must first describe the theme, the keyword, and the structures. To stimulate students' background information at this level, it may be appropriate to ask them to predict the topic of a song and discuss about it. Pre-listening activities encourage students to listen to the music intentionally with the goal of catching the message of the song while doing so. This level is designed to teach students how to predict text based on their prior information, such as language, topic, or educational background.

2. Listening. Students manage their comprehension abilities and concentrate on listening to the text during this listening phase. This level is designed to assist pupils in understanding the material. They are not, however, expected to comprehend every word. Students who actively engage in the listening experience are more likely to build clear, accurate meaning as they evaluate the speaker's linguistic signals in this situation. Students check and update their ideas during the listening experience. They evaluate what more people need to learn and make interpretations and decisions based on what they know.

3. Post-Listening. The goal of this stage is to assist students connect the material they've heard with their own ideas and experiences, as well as to foster interpretative and critical listening as well as reflective thinking.

Following are some examples of post-listening exercises: composing a summary using notes taken while listening, reading a relevant material, role playing, writing on the same topic, and practicing pronunciation.

Teachers must basically prepare those three parts of the lesson plan. These activities motivate students to achieve their learning goals to ensure that the learning process runs smoothly. If the teachers can effectively implement the three steps, the listening learning process will be successful. This implies that both the teacher and the students will attain their learning objectives.

Listening to English songs may enhance vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension in listening skills, and there is a technique to improve listening skills by listening to English songs. Vocabularies can be acquired since individuals generally listen to English words, which can lead to the construction of new vocabularies. Improved pronunciation is possible because, while listening to an English song, the singer is generally a natural English speaker who pronounces English correctly. In order for individuals to be able to use the English song to enhance their skills.

CONCLUSION

As much as possible, technology should be used in the classroom. The use of technology in language education is critical, and the trend toward integrating technology into class material is growing by the day. Accordingly, using music in a class setting via technology attracts attention. The use of music in foreign language instruction has both good and negative views. Using songs in the learning process, particularly in listening lessons, creates a pleasant environment in the classroom and allows teachers to easily communicate the topic or topic. Students can also use increasing their listening skills as one of their effective techniques for overcoming their listening difficulties. English songs may motivate students to participate in lesson, they are interesting, and they can effectively complete a listening task. However, there are certain disadvantages to using songs in the listening process, such as the fact that pop songs are not scientific, that inefficient sound systems in schools can cause problems while listening to songs, that the types of music preferred by students may not be compatible, and so on. Finally, we must keep in mind that our job is becoming more demanding every day, and we must be prepared to confront the problems that arise, finding solutions or different alternatives
